Hi i'm using vista. So all of what you've mentioned above changes. Can someone kindly tell me how to do so in vista? I've already deleted "Windows Live Plus! (CiD)."

I've had to reload my internet program, and now signing up for "MSN live" is the only option I have. I need to access my old eMail (hotmail) for my business but I can't. I don't even know how to contact MSN live to correct this mess with or without siging up for a service I dont want. I'm not sure if this extortion, piracy or just someone doing Satin's bidding but I need HELP.

i hae seen a few comments asking why they got CiD popups
many programs are sponsored by CiD
such as windows live messenger plus
CiD pay companys thousands so when you download msn plus u download the sponsor CiD and then CiD are paid by other companies to show their popups

so if u download msn plus ect ... disagree to downloading CiD sponsor

Ok For everyone saying C:\Documents and settings\ Application data and all that.
I am a vista user and my OS does not come with a Documents and settings all users and all that.
The path doesn't exist. I've tried searching for it manually by going through the C drive. I went to my C: drive and Doc and settings does not exist there.
I don't have the specific path.
I hace CiD on my comp and it is VERY annoying. I have even uninstalled Messanger plus and installing a new version this time NOT clicking the sponser thing. I still get the pop-ups I do not have the Add/Remove Program thing on my comp, i only have uninstall/change so i went there and there is no CiD help or anything, just the messanger plus. I went there before uninstalling it and it said that the CiD sponser thing was damaged by a third party program. and all this Hijackthis s*** is a little too complicated and it seems a little unneccesary. Does anyone have another way of deleting this bugger? like the names of the files i would need to search for and destroy?

I am using Windows XP. The version of Cid I had on my computer was generating a random directory under "C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data" and probably a random filename. This .exe will probably change everytime you boot your computer. The application is set to boot by an entry in the Registry:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run]

Check the names of the exes under this node and find the one that is located in the Application Directory. Delete the entry in the Registry. To be safe, don't reboot your computer or shut it down. Do a hardware reset or turn off the power. This will prevent the Cid exe from getting notified of a shutdown and creating yet another random startup .exe.

If you're using some other version of Windows, you need to find out where the file is getting randomly created. Use a disk compare program that shows changes between reboots in order to find the file. In any case, the entry in the Registry needs to be removed.

If you can't be bothered with this, just export the entire keys under the above Registry entry and save them to a file. Then delete all of the entries, close the Registry, then kill the power or do a hard reset. If Cid is gone after starting Windows, just add the Registry entries you've exported one at a time and reboot each time to find out which one was the bad one.
